I have wasted so much time seeking others' approval.
I have wasted so much time striving for the best grades, the best art, the best reputation as the "perfect" student.
I have wasted so much time doing all of the talking and none of the listening.
I have wasted so much time seeking relationships for my own benefit and for no one else's.
I have wasted so much time dwelling on my own sorrows that I have not seen the pain of those around me.
I have wasted so much time chasing my own pleasures that I did not connect with others enough to fully understand how to best love each person individually.
I have wasted so much time in school,
but that is going to change.
I like what you wrote. Good luck in connecting with others and shedding your insularity (my term). However, I made my greatest mistakes when I thought - at the time - I was being spiritual when I really wasn't. So, good luck at finding balance also.
